Every October 31st, New York City holds it Annual Halloween Parade in the West Village. If you happen to be in NYC around this time, don’t miss this event of ultra fun pageantry and an impressive display of wild creativity. If you can’t get a good spot on the parade route and can’t see the parade through the thick crowd, just step back and enjoy the spectacle of the spectators instead!
You see, many Halloween enthusiasts in New York spend so many months planning and creating their own costumes for the Halloween Parade – not to be part of the parade but only to be part of the crowd. Come see our images of some of the crowds in costume from the previous parade. They range from creepy, gory to groovy, funny, risqué, etc. Happy Halloween! (Update: 2012 Halloween Parade has been postponed due to aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.)

Woh! Wonderfully creepy. Really interesting costumes. Heard about the NYC Halloween parade. Hope to make it there sometime. Great photos!
Hi Jan, thanks! We hope so too! It’s a fun NYC experience.
Looks like a lot of fun. I’ve not been to NY’s Thankgiving Parade and not Halloween Parade. I hope to experience it next time I visit NY. Nice pics as usual.
Thanks Craig, It’s really a fun event and we’re pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.
I love the Village Halloween Parade. It’s a lot of fun and you’re right it’s a great display of people’s creativity. Yes, I love the very cool crowds. I also enjoy the after parade festivities when the crowds and parade participants spread throughout the street of the Village creating their own street parties. I’m bummed that I’m going to miss it this year. Your photos are fun and amazing.
Hi Kira, we also found the after parade street parties so much fun. Glad you enjoyed the photos.
Great pics! The Michael Jackson werewolf and Elmo’s Big Boy are my favorites.

Never in the last 10 years that I’ve lived in New York have I seen this parade in person – or I guess I was somewhere else during Halloween
HI Dennis, you just have to stop traveling around Halloween season and see the parade for once!:) I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.
